|Description:||Summary Performs the fundamental engineering tasks associated with the design and development of rotating mechanical systems to product requirements and specifications. Typical products to design include gearboxes, generators, and transmissions. |
|Duties:||Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.|
Responsible for technical performance of assigned projects including adherence to the Loc Product Development process.
Accept design responsibility, authority and accountability of assigned product designs
Design of complex rotating machines such as gearboxes and transmission assemblies
Perform mechanical design analyses for generator designs
Develop plan for validating design to customer requirements
Specification of purchase componentry: includes bearings, seals, fasteners, etc.
Component engineering design of structural components within the assemblies
Interaction with manufacturing engineering and quality to assure manufacturability of designed hardware
Planning, execution and documentation of engineering analyses required for product design to assure robustness, reliability and performance requirements are met
Constructs engineering artifacts for design reviews, including APQP design process documents: DFMEA, DVP&R, etc.
Support prototype fabrication
Analyze test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications
Ensure form, fit and function of complex mechanical system concepts
Preparation support for design review meetings
Support the preparation of presentation material to convey analysis results and recommendations
|Qualifications:||Preferred Requirements: |
Management of product design requirements and specifications
Experience with ProEngineer or similar engineering tools
Experience with ANSYS design analysis software for performing FEA structural analyses
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in engineering from a four-year college or university. A minimum of 3 years work experience utilizing effective engineering tools for the design and development of rotating mechanical systems.
Other Skills and Abilities
Familiarity with APQP, DFMEA, DVP&R, ProEngineer, FEA Structural Analysis, ISO/TS 16949, AGMA Standards
