Duties:Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operates a variety of welding equipment applying appropriate welding processes to prep, join, fabricate, and repair parts of metals.
• Operates a variety of manual and automatic welding equipment to perform joining operations using welding techniques specific to the assigned WPS driven by customer / AWS code standards.
• Responsible to weld parts within our WPS settings and parameters by job.
• Must be able to understand prints and weld symbols and transfer information from them, as well as work instructions, into welded / fabricated components.
• Must be able to pass welding code certification for standard joint configurations (IE: 1F, 2F, 1G) on various materials with MIG welding at a minimum.
• Participate in departmental continuous improvement efforts and support/implement lean initiatives.
• Support the company’s mission, vision and values in performance of daily activities.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure welding equipment and hand tools are safe, calibrated and fully operational; all issues need to be reported immediately.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
• Effectively communicate production issues to supervisors and or other support departments.
• Performs necessary job functions in the department
• Provide continuous process improvement through reduction of cycle and set-up times.
• Assist with plant CI activities, within weld department, to achieve quality, productivity and cost reduction goals.
• Maintain a positive working relationship with all levels of the organization
• Maintain high level of housekeeping in the work area, including 5S.
• Adherence to all company policies, procedures, external regulations and legal requirements.
• Other duties as directed by management.
Qualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or experience
• High School Diploma. Welding certification preferred.
• Minimum of Two (2) years’ weld experience preferred.
• Understands welding processes.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Ability to comprehend welding code, symbols and intermediate steps to produce welds
• Ability to obtain an overhead crane license. Rigging experience preferred.
• Ability to obtain a fork truck license preferred.
• Capable of passing a respirator fit test or have an approved air supply weld hood.
• Positive can-do attitude focused on continuous improvement.
• Ability to work in a fast paced and changing environment.
• Ability to work well with others in a team environments.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
• Ability to read and write in English.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiple, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Safety glasses must be worn at all times while on the shop floor.
