|Duties:||-Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, production orders and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules. |
-Schedule Government shipments through the Government website.
-Ability to read and interpret government contracts regarding packaging, labeling, and shipping instructions.
-Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
-Determines space requirements and position of shipment in trucks and lays out position of shipment.
-Determines routing and legal load limits of trucks, according to established schedules and weight limits of states.
-Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, and seals loaded truck doors.
-Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas.
-Resolves receiving discrepancies from suppliers.
-Coordinates all outgoing shipments with respective dock times.
-Compiles records of unfilled orders.
-Schedules pick-up times with customer logistics department.
-Posts weight and shipping charges.
-Coordinates material flow for commercial customers with scheduled dock times.
-Prepares bills of lading.
-Maintains time records.
-Issues written and oral instructions.
-Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of shipping methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
-Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
-Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
-Adjusts errors and complaints.
-Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
|Qualifications:||Education and/or Experience |
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
