Loc Performance is looking for a Gear Design Engineer to join our Product Development department!
The Gear Design Engineer leads the design and development of geared assemblies for military and industrial applications. The position primarily requires proficient gear, bearing, shaft, and seal design experience and associated engineering analysis capabilities.

|Duties:||Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.|
Lead design and development of complex geared assemblies in accordance with the Loc Product Development Process.
Utilize ISO 6336 and AGMA standards for designing, analyzing and optimizing geared systems using KissSoft.
Perform detailed gear analysis including gear profile modifications, material recommendations, and heat treating.
Work with manufacturing for approval of tooling required to produce gearing in-house to meet design specifications.
Coordinate between manufacturing and quality for gearing inspection and approval.
Provide guidance for technical project execution with other engineers and designers, including details necessary for reviews, detailed drawings, and manufacturing.
Document plans for meeting all customer requirements.
Develop plan for validating design to customer requirements.
Design gears, shafts, bearings, seals, and other required gearbox components to meet total system level performance requirements.
Provide necessary supporting analyses for design reviews to assure evolving designs will meet functional intent.
Plans and develops test plans
Supports test plan execution
Supports prototype fabrication
Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
Ensure form, fit, and function of complex mechanical system concepts.
Supports the preparation of design review meetings.
Preparation of presentation material to convey analysis results and recommendations.

Education and/or Experience
Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering (M.S.M.E.) or equivalent and five years of related work experience designing complex geared systems.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information in English and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Must understand complex mathematical relationships that underpin the analyses for static, dynamic, fatigue, vibration, shock, and other forms of analyses as required for the design and development of complex geared systems.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of KissSoft Gear Design software; CAD; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
